Dexela's Management Team
Dexela has its headquarters and software development operation in London and an X-ray R&D facility in Sudbury, Massachusetts. X-ray and gantry work are performed in Sudbury and commercial and other R&D activities in London. The Sudbury office is used by management during frequent and extended visits to the US and especially to Massachusetts, which is the heart of the US medical imaging industry, e.g. Hologic in Bedford, MA. The Sudbury office is also used to coordinate and support US clinical trials. In the future it will provide a base for product support activities, which will require additional office space in Sudbury. Dexela employs 10 people in London and 4 in the USA. Mechanical engineering is conducted by experienced consulting engineers.

Roman Janer

Roman Janer - Senior Vice-President, Product Development
Roman Janer has over 25 years experience and success in R&D, product and business development and extensive operations and technical management experience in medical imaging. He has unrivalled experience in product development and business development in the field of analogue and digital mammography, having served in senior positions at all three US digital mammography vendors: Fischer Imaging (CTO, SVP R&D, SVP OPS), Hologic (VP, Digital Technology) and Lorad (VP, Research and Development). At Hologic, Roman worked with Jack Cummings (now Hologic CEO) to develop a worldwide digital mammography business around the Selenia product. He assisted in all aspects of Hologic with a focus on harnessing value of digital systems for Hologic through business partnerships, including the key Siemens deal. Today, Selenia has a 56% market share in the US digital mammography market.
Accomplishments:
• Revived sales and credibility of Lorad - initiated digital mammography program
• Achieved FDA Pre-Market Approval (PMA) for Lorad full field digital mammography system
• Key senior team member in the acquisition of Trex Medical (Lorad) by Hologic
• Introduced more than 12 new products at Trex Medical, representing more than 90% of the current sales and resulting in the company achieving leadership market share in mammography (Lorad division)

Steve Naday

Steve Naday - Chief Technical Officer
Steve led the world renowned detector group at Argonne National Labs in Chicago before founding Aviex LLC. Aviex makes some of the highest performance X-ray detectors in the world, with growing sales in Europe and the US and strong gross profit margins of over 70%. Steve will lead Dexela’s technical development projects, applying his experience in technical management and product development. He also brings world-class X-ray detector and electronics expertise to the team.

Jamshid Dehmeshki - Chief Scientific Officer
Jamshid was instrumental in the design and development of three families of state of the art medical imaging software products at Medicsight: Colon CAR (Computer Assisted Reader), Heart Screen and Lung CAR, which received FDA approval and CE marking. Relying entirely on these Colon and Lung CAR products, Medicsight listed on AIM in 2007, becoming the UK’s leading medical imaging software company and a major global participant in CAD.
Accomplishments:
• Led the delivery of 5 major medical software products with FDA approval and CE marking
• Designed and patented the architecture for image processing products with features that achieved FDA 510(K) compliance
• Designed the detailed architecture of several image processing libraries for direct integration into third party products/workstations
• Designed the architecture and led the development of a variety of image processing algorithms to build a robust general image processing library for rapid product development
• Developed, built up and managed a major organisation for image processing scientific research, software development and testing
• Published over 80 scientific, technical and clinical papers on advanced image processing and its applications in learned journals and referred conferences
• Instrumental in developing business and management processes complaint with CE and ISO standards

John Kerr

John Kerr - Financial Director
John Kerr is an exceptionally experienced manager, who has run companies in both the UK and USA. An Oxford graduate and a qualified accountant, he has worked in both the public and the private sector, in manufacturing and international trading operations, and has experienced both sides of the venture capital process. He worked for 8 years as a venture capitalist, where he was a non-executive director or chairman of over 10 companies, in fields as varied as healthcare, telecoms, publishing and defence equipment. During the last five years, he has worked with venture capitalists, as director of a management buy-in company funded by venture capital. He is also a director of Close Brothers Venture Capital Trust PLC, a company listed on the London Stock Exchange, and chairman of its Audit Committee.
Accomplishments:
• Preparation of statutory accounts, budgets and forecasts, 3-year business plans etc.
• Investment appraisals, including due diligence investigations
• Conducted numerous banking negotiations to raise finance or negotiate terms
• Arranged the successful realisation of investments by flotation, trade sale and buy-back
• Participated in the stock exchange flotation of 3 companies where he was a director
• Built up a completely new finance team, operating on new IT systems, within 6 months
• Restructured pension arrangements to reduce contribution volatility and contain costs
• Strategic initiatives, e.g. trading with the newly-independent Baltic countries in the mid-1990s
